Frequently Asked Questions
What does the clinic space look like?
The clinic is a fun, playful environment that offers a great balance between work and play. There are climbing structures, swings and even a zip line into a ball pit! Please see the photo gallery.
What do I bring for the first session?
Please bring any outstanding documents that have been requested (i.e. doctors orders, previous evaluations, insurance card) during your conversation with our staff.
What should my child wear?
Children should wear socks and comfortable clothes that they can easily move around in. We sometimes use messy materials like shaving cream and paint so play clothes are best.
Does my child need socks?
Yes. Please be sure to have your children wear or bring socks to each therapy session.
How long is a therapy session?
A therapy session lasts approximately 45 minutes. A few minutes prior to the end of each session, your child and therapist will meet you in the waiting area to briefly discuss what activities were completed, your child’s response and to provide you with suggestions of things to work on at home. If you have any specific questions or concerns for your therapist, please bring them up in the beginning of your child’s session.
Are there payment options?
Yes. In addition to private pay options, we recognize that families have access to a variety of insurance plans. We will work with you to identify if Sensible Development is an in-network provider for your plan. If we are an out-of-network provider, we will support you as you work with your insurance company to seek reimbursement for our services.
Are there after-school appointments available?
Yes, we will make every effort to accommodate your family’s needs when scheduling therapy sessions.
Can I observe my child’s session?
Often times we encourage parents to observe a session to demonstrate progress or a newly acquired skill and to teach strategies for home carryover. Your child’s therapist will plan observations with you in advance.
Do you allow siblings in to therapy sessions?
Typically, individual therapy sessions will focus on support and intervention for the child with developmental or learning needs. However, we encourage you to talk with your therapist, especially if sibling interaction is an area of concern.
Can I leave the building when my child is working with his therapist?
For safety purposes, parents need to remain on-site during a child’s treatment session. However, we understand that there may be exceptional circumstances and encourage you to talk with your therapist.
